What determines whether people save or consume? Whether they engage in sustainable consumption or have a short-term perspective? And how are these decisions affected by uncertainty about future outcomes? To obtain answers to questions like these, it is important to understand the economic factors that come into play. But even more so, we need to understand the people within the economy. After all, in the end, the decisions are made by people. To understand, and possibly guide these decisions, we need expertise in both economics and psychology.

I want to understand economic behaviour. And that means that I want to understand the people behind the behaviour.
