Factsheet 'Determinants of financial stress'

This factsheet is written in Dutch.

Background

This fact sheet provides a brief and visual overview of scientific research conducted by Olaf Simonse focusing on factors associated with financial stress. From the LISS panel, 1,114 respondents completed a questionnaire on experiencing financial stress. Responses from this questionnaire were linked to economic, demographic and psychological characteristics. The focus of the study was to examine the association of financial stress with economic characteristics: savings, income, debt, income fluctuations and having a job. What is new about this study is that it also looked at the combination of these factors, whereas previous research looked primarily at single factors.
