The Price of Being Together: A Study on the Costs and Benefits of Social Activities

This study is an extension of the National Monitor on Financial Concerns, and examines the costs and benefits of engaging in social activities.

The research was conducted among a representative sample of the Dutch population. It provides insight into how often people participate in social activities, how much they expect to spend on these activities, and how they feel when they end up spending more than intended. Both the positive aspects (such as social connectedness) and the negative aspects (such as financial worries) of social activities that involve costs are examined.
